During the rapid urbanization in Changchun, numerous historical structures fell victim to hasty demolition. Amidst this, the Kuanchengzi District stands as one of the few remnants of historical significance. This area, once colonized by Russia, witnessed a range of economic and cultural activities during the Tsarist colonial era, contributing to the development of urban architecture that now stands as valuable historical treasures.
Experience
The proposed project is strategically positioned at the convergence of two primary pedestrian and tourist pathways within the historical site. Its objective is to forge a new urban landmark that seamlessly integrates historical elements and treasures with modern lifestyle concepts. The building itself is envisioned to serve as a hub for civic experiences and a viewing platform, fostering interactions with neighboring historical structures on the same block, as well as other surrounding landmarks. Visitors would be immersed in diverse historical elements as they ascend the structure, culminating in an opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking view of the historic street from the building's summit. The intention is to create a harmonious blend of past and present, offering a space where people can engage with history while enjoying the contemporary urban environment.
