To establish the most efficient and sustainable energy system for KRS, solar energy will take the forefront as the primary source of power generation. This involves a synergistic approach encompassing utility-scale solar farms and residential rooftop solar panels, forming a robust network capable of meeting the diverse energy needs of commercial, industrial, and domestic sectors. Despite potential reductions in solar irradiation during the rainy season, the overall annual electricity generation remains sufficient, justifying the investment in solar infrastructure. Additionally, the incorporation of solar-powered charging stations aims to encourage the adoption of Electric Vehicles among locals. While recognizing the importance of more traditional power generation methods such as biomass and fossil fuel energy, these will serve as complementary sources to fulfill any remaining energy requirements, ensuring a balanced and resilient energy landscape for KRS.
Water
The tropical climate shaped by KRS's geographical location presents a significant opportunity for rainwater harvesting, serving as a valuable water source and bolstering green energy practices on the island. This harvested rainwater holds potential applications for irrigation and can undergo treatment to meet municipal water needs. KRS's water supply will predominantly be sourced from rainfall and surface water, supplemented by some aquifer groundwater. To fulfill domestic water demands, rooftop water catchment infrastructure will be strategically implemented, ensuring an efficient collection system.
Moreover, the island's commitment extends from water source to proper water management. Treated wastewater will be repurposed for agricultural needs, creating a closed-loop system that minimizes water consumption. The integration of natural water treatment methods will involve filtration, disinfection, and utilizing carbon emissions to nourish microorganisms responsible for sewage treatment.
