This project is to illustrate the complexities of historical segregations in Buffalo through the lens of interactive data visualization, shedding light on the racial issues that continue to shape the city's urban landscape, and fostering awareness and dialogue surrounding these critical issues within the city. By offering the audience the capability to dynamically manipulate the X and Y variables such as education attainment, household income, employment rate, and more, this website allows users to explore multiple factors associated with the separation quantitatively, so that users gained insights into the multifaceted dimensions impacted by racial dynamics in the city. Beyond the quantitative insights, the final map presented a compelling geographical representation of the racial separation. This dual approach, combining interactive quantitative exploration and visual mapping, aimed to deliver a comprehensive and accessible narrative, fostering a more informed and nuanced dialogue around the critical issue of racial separation in Buffalo.
