People spend approximately 90% of their lives indoors. Air quality within buildings without forced-air ventilation systems often reaches toxic levels of CO2 due to windows remaining closed during cold weather months. CO2 levels exceeding 1200 ppm can impair cognitive function, reduce productivity, and negatively impact mental health, posing pressing public health concerns. In the U.S., for example, natural ventilation is inadequate in 88% of low-income housing.
